The Gathering Of Sparks

Sayiph is a pious swordswoman taking the next steps in her religious education. Arezah is a lively adventurer returning to study with a beloved mentor. When they cross paths, they first must learn to withstand each other, but soon realize they must work together to face down nefarious forces from outside their tribes.

“The Gathering of Sparks” combines Jewish culture and mysticism with fantasy adventure. A side story, “Lior The Hidden,” features a young archer struggling to find a place to fit in their community.

Har Yashav Beit Lidrash • הר ישאב בית לידרש

An old academy at Mount Yashav (literally: “seating place”) headed by the scholar and mystic, R’ Akiva. The campus is a humble place a bit out of the way, sequestered in the woods. The buildings are mostly old stone and brick, with a main school building at the center and dormitories around the edge of the property. A fruit tree greets you at the main gate.

Ya’ardamah • יערדמה

A heavily forested region prized for its carpentry and high quality lumber. Home of Arezah’s family. Its location isn’t too far from Har Yashav.

Barzel-Hadad • ברזל חדד

A mountainous region known for unique metalwork and high craftsmanship in production of blades and other metal weaponry. Sayiph and her family hail from here.

Lior The Hidden • ליאור הטומטום

This is a short comic that takes place in the wider world of this comic. It features a young kid, Lior, who was born a girl and presents as male, but assigns themselves no real gender. Lior faces bullying and isolation, and turns to archery and camping for comfort. However, a wrong turn for Lior’s bully marks a change in Lior’s life. This comic shows Lior growing in their community, as well as the community’s learning about how to relate to them.
